Hanging Witches

In this production of Vinegar Tom I was asked to create a dramatic moment where the protagonist of the show is hung for her crimes as a witch. Working with the costume department we created a weighted dummy torso which was given a costume.

I then created a drop box to hold the dummy and rigged 1/8″ aircraft cable through heavy hemp rope to act as the noose. We as a team decided to forgo the gruesome seen of having a head and instead used the sudden action of the dropping to punctuate the scene to great effect.
